DISINTEGRATING THE MASS

Recreational Center + Plaza Re-design

Brooklyn, New York

2014

In a predominantly retail area on Fulton Street in Brooklyn, this urban intervention project aims to add another dimension of recreation that would revitalize the existing public space condition.

By framing a variety of spatial conditions, the project addresses scales for both the community and the individual. The architecture provides simply the framework for activity to reside and cultivate, thus addressing community belonging and ownership.

By breaking the mass, space and culture are both contained and freed -

“My Fulton, Our Fulton.”
